Five firms bidding for Ankara's electricity company

The final bargaining for the block sale of Baskent Electricity Distribution Corp. began at the Privatization Administration Board in Ankara.

Five companies bade for the Turkish capital's electricity company on Tuesday.

The final bargaining for the block sale of Baskent Electricity Distribution Corp. began at the Privatization Administration Board in Ankara.

Five companies and consortia are joining the bargaining. They are:

-Hema Endustri Corp.
-Akcez consortium
-Haci Omer Sabanci Holding A.Ş.-Osterreichische Elektrizitatswirtschafts-Aktiengesellschaft (Verbund)-Enerjisa Enerji Uretim Corp. consortium
-Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holding Corp.-Saray Hali Corp.-Kantur-Akdas Insaat ve Ticaret Corp. consortium
-Park Holding Corp.

The Baskent Electricity Distribution Corp. covers cities including Ankara, Kirikkale, Zonguldak, Bartin, Karabuk, Cankiri and Kastamonu.

In the first round, the privatization board will receive closed bids but it will not eliminate any company or consortium. In the other rounds, the company or consortium offering the lowest bid will be out of the tender.

An auction will take place after two elimination rounds.

The result of the tender will be sent to the Competition Board and Energy Market & Regulation Board. After the approval of these two departments, the tender result will be presented to the Higher Board of Privatization for approval.

Then, a contract will be signed with the winner and the tender will be technically and legally over.

Also, the Privatization Administration Board will hold the final bargaining for the Sakarya Electricity Distribution Corp. in the afternoon.

The bargaining will begin at 2 p.m.

-Akcez consortium
-Haci Omer Sabanci Holding A.Ş.
-Osterreichische Elektrizitatswirtschafts-Aktiengesellschaft (Verbund), Enerjisa Enerji Uretim Corp. consortium
-UDDA consortium
-Park Holding Corp.
