FM asks France to extradite PKK members
Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, who is currently in the French capital city of Paris to attend the Union for Mediterranean Summit, has requested extradition of members of PKK who were in custody in France, during his meeting with his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner.

The bilateral relations between Turkey and France, Turkey's negotiation process with the EU and cooperation in the fight against PKK were high on agenda of the meeting.

Babacan said that Turkey and France should cooperate with each other more closely and effectively against PKK.

Kouchner reiterated that France would support Turkey's fight against PKK.

Eight members of the PKK were detained in France in February 2007. They were later released by the court to be tried without detention.

Babacan also met his Syrian counterpart Walid Mualem.

Recent developments in the Middle East peace process and tomorrow's summit on "Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean" in Paris were discussed at the meeting.

Babacan is set to hold bilateral talks with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt of Sweden later in the day.
