Ford company in Turkey resumes manifacturing

Ford Automotive Industry has resumed manufacturing at its plant in north-western Turkish province of Kocaeli after a half of two weeks.

Yucel Yucel, provincial chairman of the Turkish Metal Labor Union, told the A.A that Ford suspended manufacturing on January 31 because of a sharp decline in demands both in Turkey and abroad stemming from global crisis.

6,400 workers at the factory were on leave for two weeks but remained on the payroll.

Ford's production dropped by more than 50 percent in the last quarter of 2008 over the same period in 2007.
