Two of suspects who staged an armed attack outside the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul on Wednesday already had criminal records of ordinary crimes, Turkish interior minister has said.
Replying to questions, Interior Minister Besir Atalay stated security department has been working hard on the matter.
Atalay said three terrorists have been identified and two of them already had criminal records.
A security guard and two traffic policemen were killed in the shootout near the police post at the visa entrance of the U.S. Consulate General, and three attackers were also killed in the shooting.
Turkish security authorities estimated the number of gunmen who staged an armed attack on a police post outside the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul as four, Turkish interior minister said on Wednesday.
Atalay told reporters three gunmen were killed in the shooting outside the consulate general and there was another who drove the car.
"I considered that the other will be caught soon," he said.
Atalay also said he cancelled his visit to Iraqi capital of Baghdad scheduled to start on Thursday.
