Pakistani jet fighters killed 30 people in South Waziristan, forested mountains on the Afghan border on Saturday, the military said.
The Saturday air raid was in Shawal and came as teams of co-ordinated suicide attackers struck two police stations in northwestern Pakistan, killing a local police chief and wounding four officers.
A miliatry spokesman claimed that they targeted the hideout in Shawal, adding 30 fighters allegedly link to Al-Qaeda had been killed.
There was no independent verification of the toll.
A policeman was killed and three wounded in a suicide bomb attack in the northwestern town of Balakot, police said. Police shot dead another bomber in the nearby town of Mansehra as he tried to force his way into a police station, they said.
