Officials at the Ministry of Defence said the Huey UH-1H Greek army helicopter crashed in an uninhabited area near Lake Koroneia, approximately 20 kilometres east of the port city of Thessaloniki.
The helicopter had taken off from the Alexandria military base, approximately 40 kilometres west of Thessaloniki and was en route to a special forces camp near the lake.
The bodies of all three people on board were discovered at the crash site.
It is still unclear what caused the accident.

A military helicopter crashed in northern Greece on Tuesday, killing all three people on board, reports said.
