Gul calls on Saudi businessmen to invest in Turkey
Turkish president addressed Turkish & Saudi Arabian businessmen in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
Turkey's President Abdullah Gul called on Saudi Arabian businessmen to invest in Turkey in an address to Turkish and Saudi Arabian businessmen at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
"Turkey, which has been renewed by radical reforms, is offering huge business opportunities," he said during the meeting.
Gul also asked Saudi businessmen to establish partnership with Turkish businessmen, and make joint investments.
The current trade volume between Turkey and Saudi Arabia stands at 5.5 billion USD.
The Turkish president said that Turkey attached importance to regional security and stability.
"There cannot be economic wealth and prosperity in a region without stability, security and peace," Gul said.
Gul said that relations between regional countries would further improve if stability was ensured.
President Gul was also scheduled to meet Prince Khaled, the governor of Mecca, but the meeting was cancelled.
Gul earlier met Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
