The heavy rains in Balkans caused the major crossing point on the Bulgaria-Turkey border to be closed on Saturday.

No cars are allowed to pass through Kapitan Andeevo. The flood hit Bulgarian side, according to Novinite.

In Turkey's Northwestern province of Edirne, the Tunca river destroyed embankmentthe after the Bulgarian authorities opened the dam shutter. Heavy rain caused to inundate some houses around the river, state-run TRT said.

The Governor Mustafa Buyuk said that "The crisis team is working for 24 hours.  There is no caualties presently.

Turkey-Bulgaria traffic

Because of the flood, the entire car traffic to and from Turkey is directed to the next border crossing point to the east Lesovo.

The level of the Kalamanitsa River on the Kapitan Andreevo road has reached 50 cm at certain parts. Larger vehicles such as trucks are still allowed to pass but they might be banned as well if the level of the river rises more.

Meanwhile, in Turkey, heavy rains killed chicken in province of Canakkale. Also Sarıcay river in Tekirdag flowed and took the playpens.
