While most of the country struggles with heavy snow fall, most passengers prefer trains for avoiding road blocks and accidents, officials said.

Railways provide alternative travel arrangement for those who worry about the wheather conditions that may affect their travel plans.

Turkish railways officials said operated trains are prepared for the passengers just before the new year holiday season.

They state that many roads are closed because of snow, most of the roads are not safe for a long travel. Under these conditions, passengers are looking for better options and trains provide them cheaper and safer travel alternatives.

Railway officials said they take measures to make trains and railways ready for a busy season.

"The number of train passengers increased 30 percent for the last couple of months and they travel in heated railway cars. Railway security and mechanic services are also on duty for 24 hours."
