Israeli intelligence have failed to predict the Hamas Movement's landslide legislative election victory, according to a Hebrew newspaper on Monday.
An Israeli writer revealed in an article in the Yediot Ahronot that on the eve of the Palestinian Legislative Council's elections a number of scenarios were prepared on all expected results, which predicted that Hamas would win between 10% to 40% of the polls while describing the last percentage as "unrealistic".
He wrote that the Israeli military intelligence analysts were currently studying how did such an intelligence failure take place and who should be responsible for it.
"Israel exerts great intelligence efforts and produces amazing results", according to the columnist, but, he added, "Israel failed in existential issues such as the Iranian nuclear bomb or Hamas' control on Palestine".
