The U.S. Consulate General: "Both Turkey and the United States should maintain their efforts to build stronger democracies through constructive dialogues."

Independence Day of USA celebrated in Turkey
The United States representation in the Turkish city of Istanbul celebrated the anniversary of the country's independence on Wednesday.

The U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul hosted a reception on the 232nd anniversary of the Independence Day.

Speaking in the reception, consul general Sharon A. Wiener said that both Turkey and the United States should maintain their efforts to build stronger democracies through constructive dialogues, comprised of various voices from all segments of the society.

Wiener said that she was impressed with Turkey's dynamic economic and political progress.

The consul general said that Turkey's and United States' democratic values were the biggest hope for both countries to achieve other goals like peace and freedom.

In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
