In occupied Kashmir, where the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other liberation organizations had given a call for observing the Day as Black Day, a crippling strike was observed. All business establishments, government and private offices and educational institutions remained closed and traffic was off the roads.

Unprecedented presence of troops could be witnessed patrolling the streets on the Day giving the occupied territory a look of an army garrison. The residential areas around Bakhshi Stadium, the venue of official function, have been put under siege for quite some time before the Day, and inmates are not allowed to move out.

On this Day, on January 26 every year, Kashmiris renew their resolve to continue struggle against Indian occupation, no matter how great the cost, till the achievement of the ultimate objective of liberation.
