An Iranian court has confirmed a jail sentence of five years for a reformist former industries minister over his role in last year's presidental election in which scores of demonstrators were killed, the ISNA news agency reported on Tuesday.
ISNA also said one of those arrested during anti-government demonstrations on Dec. 27 was sentenced to death. Eight others were sentenced to prison terms.
The opposition says the June poll was rigged to secure President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's re-election. The authorities have rejected the charge and portrayed post-election protests as Western-backed.
