Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to begin a state visit to Syria Thursday to attend the inauguration ceremony of his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad, the presidential office in Tehran announced Monday.
Assad is being sworn in for a second seven-year presidential term.
Fars news agency reported that the two leaders will discuss international, regional and bilateral issues, including the latest developments in Lebanon and the internal crisis in the Palestinian territories.
