ISEEF became one of the four partners in an important new publishing project Yearbook of Muslims in Europe.

Other project partners are Eurel ( Strasbourg ), CEIT ( University of Copenhagen ), and the new Cambridge centre (subject to agreement).

The Yearbook is to be published by the well-known Dutch academic publisher Brill in Leiden.

Each annual volume will provide an up-to-date account of the situation of Muslims in Europe. Covering 37 countries of western, central and south-eastern Europe, the Yearbook will consist of three sections and will be supported by additional material on a website.

The first section presents a country-by-country summary of essential data with basic statistics with evaluations of their reliability, surveys of legal status and arrangements, organizations, etc. providing an annually up-dated reference resource.

The second section will contain analysis and research articles on issues and themes of current relevance written by experts in the field.

The final section will provide reviews of recently published books of significance.

The Yearbook will be an important source of reference for government and NGO officials, journalists, and policy makers as well as researchers.

The project will be led by an editorial team consisting of:

Prof. Jørgen S. Nielsen, Centre for European Islamic Thought, Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen , Denmark (coordinating editor).

Dr Samim Akgönül, PRISME, Université Strasbourg , France
Mr Ahmet Alibasic, Islam in South East Europe Forum, Center for advanced Studies, Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Mr Christian Moe, independent researcher, Oslo and Ljubljana, also member of ISEEF

In the near future editorial team is expecting two further academics to join the team. The editors will be supported by an international group of editorial advisers and there will be country specialists, many of whom we are expecting to be members of ISEEF, who will assemble the reference data for each of the 37 countries to be covered.
