The International Federation for the Islamic Scholars is embarking on a tour of major Arab countries next week in a major drive to save the people of Gaza, who are reeling under Israeli assault and a crippling blockade, Gulf News reported.

"A delegation of the Federation, headed by its President and renowned scholar Shaikh Yousuf Al Qaradhawi, will meet several Arab heads of state and leaders, and ask them to make urgent intervention to halt the Israeli aggression and rush humanitarian assistance to the victims of Israeli assault," the report said.

"The leaders include King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah of Jordan, President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, and Syrian President Bashar Al Assad."

The report said "the delegation include Saudi scholar Shaikh Salman Al Ouda, who is also deputy president of the Federation, Sudanese Minister of Endowments Essam Al Bashir, Oman Mufti Shaikh Ahmad Al Khalil and a number of other senior scholars."

The delegation's main aim is to convey the anger of the Arab and Muslim public against Israeli massacre to their leaders.

They will also persuade the leaders to take urgent steps to halt Israeli aggression as well as to ensure urgent medical aid and treatment for those injured in Israeli attack, make available of relief supplies, ensure opening of Gaza crossings, and give protection to those who were stranded following the continuous attacks.
