Israel installs new surveillance system near Gaza
The Israeli Army will install a new surveillance system along the border with Gaza Strip which is cappable of identifying and shooting Palestinians approaching the border, reported the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, Wednesday.

The newspaper quoted army officials as saying "the new defense system developed by Armament Development Authority (RAFAEL) is capable of identifying and shooting at people approaching the border with Israel from Gaza Strip." The surveillance system will lower the risk of casualties among Israeli troops monitoring the borderline, official sources told the newspaper.

Currently, the Israeli Army is relying on watchtowers and patrols to thwart activities, the paper added. It added the new system is capable of firing at targets instantaneously, whereas ground patrols need to drive several minutes to thwart attack and infiltration attempts.
