Israeli: Hamas would sweep any election in W. Bank
A security document prepared by Israel said Hamas Movement will win any election that might take place in the West Bank.
A security document prepared by the Israeli occupation army warned the Israeli occupation government that Hamas Movement will win any democratic and fair elections that might take place in the West Bank, which serves as an implicit call on the Israel Administration not to allow any democratic elections in the West Bank.
Hebrew media sources indicated that the Israeli army's document was prepared on request of the US administration where they asserted that Hamas Movement would control the West Bank through democratic election process if a permanent deal between the Israeli occupation government and the PA leadership of Mahmoud Abbas is reached.
In this concern, the Israeli army opined that the Israeli negotiating team should press the PA leadership for closer and stronger stern security coordination so as to ensure that the West Bank won't be transformed into a launching pad for locally-manufactured Palestinian rockets against "Israel" as the case is in the tiny Gaza Strip.
The Hebrew sources, furthermore, revealed that the Israeli political echelon was closely coordinating with the military level about the report, disclosing that Israeli war minister Ehud Barak has asked the document's team to include security and military lessons derived form the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip in 2005 in their report.
According to the sources, Barak was in close contacts with US General James Jones, who was commissioned by US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice to follow up the implementation of the roadmap plan, and that Barak informed Jones that security arrangements with the PA leadership should take into consideration the scenario of possible Hamas's control of the West Bank through democratic process
