A military court in Israel on Monday sentenced a senior Hamas operative Ayad Abu-Shehadam to 450 years in jail for his role in a 2004 double suicide bombing in Beersheba, southern Israel, that killed 16 and wounded 100.
The court also convicted Shehadam for his involvement in another attempted suicide attack, at the Cafit cafe in Jerusalem.
Abu-Shehadam's 450 years behind bars is equivalent to 18 life sentences.
The military court found him guilty of making the explosive devices used in the Beersheba bombings and of preparing the explosives belt intended for use in the foiled attack in Jerusalem.
Shehadam was also linked to 16 other attacks on Israelis between 2003-2004. He was seized by IDF forces operating in the West Bank city of Hebron in November, 2004.
