Turkish Minister of Environment and Forestry Veysel Eroglu said Wednesday one-third of expected annual rain fell down in only 48 hours (in the Istanbul region).
Speaking to reporters while visiting the Sub-Governorship of Silivri town, Eroglu indicated that what took place are torrential floods.
There is "no preventive measure" that could be taken against such floods, Eroglu stressed.
A total of 1,600 homes and businesses have been devastated by floods in Silivri and Selimpasa towns, Eroglu also said.
