Istanbul's second bridge to close toll collection gates
The ministry will remove all cash toll collection gates on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge at the Bosphorus, and turn them into automatic pass system and card pass system on April 26th.

Actually, 110-120 vehicles are crossing from one side of the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul to the other side every day. 75 percent of these vehicles use these two systems, whereas only 25 percent prefer paying the toll in cash.

The ministry officials said they decided to close the cash toll collection gates and turn them into automatic crossing system and crossing system with cards in order to reduce the traffic jam and end long queues at the toll collection gates.

The Transportation Ministry started the same practice on the first bridge of Istanbul-- Bogazici Bridge-- on April 3rd, 2006.
