Japan will invite 13 Iraqi leaders, including parliamentarians and heavyweights from both the Shiite and Sunni sects, for dialogue on March 20-28 aimed at promoting reconciliation among Iraqi people, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

"I hope they can engage in discussions on issues and controversies currently faced by Iraq, such as the bills on oil projects, revision of the Constitution, and creation of a federation," Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura said.

"We will also have them visit Hiroshima and see how postwar Japan recovered and democratized."
