Kashmiris to mark right of self-determination on Monday
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe the Right of Self-determination Day, on Monday, Kashmiri Media Service reported.

Kashmiris wants to remind the world that the UN resolutions on Kashmir remained unimplemented for more than six decades now.

It was on this day in 1949, that the United Nations adopted a resolution, acknowledging right of self-determination of Kashmiris and giving them the right to decide their future by themselves.

Kashmiris will hold forceful demonstrations, seminars and conferences, to mark the occasion.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference will organise a seminar in Srinagar, which would be presided over by its Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Similar functions will be held in London and other world capitals.

Senior APHC leader, Maulana Abbas Ansari, in a media interview in Srinagar, today, appealed to the international community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris' aspirations and in line with relevant UN resolutions.

The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) said it supports the right to self-determination in Kashmir in accordance with the UN resolution to solve the 60-year-old dispute between India and Pakistan.

"OIC endorses a 1948 UN resolution mandating a plebiscite in Kashmir," OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said.
