Kremlin says no U.S.-Russia arms deal this year

A senior Kremlin official said on Friday that the United States and Russia would not conclude a landmark treaty cutting nuclear arms this year but that talks would continue in January.

"It (work on the new treaty) will continue in January. The presidents have expressed confidence that in the foreseeable future, the work will be completed," Sergei Prikhodko, the Kremlin's top foreign policy adviser, told reporters in Copenhagen.

Prikhodko was speaking after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama.
