The leader of Lebanese parliament majority March 14th bloc Saad Hariri has called for immediate resumption of dialogue between all Lebanese parties, local Naharnet news website reported on Sunday.
"Because there is no solution for the current problem but by starting dialogue immediately," Hariri told a gathering in his residence in Beirut Saturday.
He said that Lebanese presidential elections should be held on time and in line with the constitution, adding that "Any delay for the presidential elections is a big crime against Lebanon."
The March 14th bloc welcomed Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri's initiative in which he said the opposition backed down from a request to form a government of national unity and to elect a new president by two-thirds of MPs.
Lebanese parliament is due to meet on Sept. 25 to choose a successor to current President Emile Lahoud, whose mandate expires on Nov. 23.
