President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania said that Turkish companies could play a significant role in economic development of his country.

Speaking at a meeting held in Istanbul by the Confederation of Turkish Businessmen & Industrialists (TUSKON), President Abdel Aziz said that Mauritania was rich of underground resources such as oil, natural gas and iron.

He said that Turkish companies could also invest in infrastructure projects in Mauritania.

Meanwhile, Rizanur Meral, president of the executive board of TUSKON, said, "the current trade volume between Turkey and Mauritania is about 20 million USD. We want to increase it up to 100 million USD."
