MILF mocks Philippine police allegation on bombings

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front mocked Friday allegation of Philippino police on a string of bombing incidents in Mindanao in past weeks.

MILF negotiating panel head Mohagher Iqbal twitted the military and police in Mindanao for making a standard operating procedure (SOP) out of linking the MILF to every bombing incident, GMANews reported.

"It seems the police and military have made an SOP out of blaming us for every bombing incident in Mindanao," Iqbal said in an interview on a radio broadcast.

He said the MILF could not have been behind such incidents since it has nothing to gain from it.

Police and military authorities earlier blamed commands of the MILF for a series of bombings in Mindanao in the last part of December.

Police Chief Superintendent Felicisimo Khu, head of a task force on law enforcement in southwestern Mindanao, was earlier identified as having discovered the MILF document containing the detailed military offensive plan.

The MILF rogue commanders had been linked to attacks on Mindanao since August, following the Supreme Court's blocking of the signing of a memorandum of agreement on ancestral domain.

"We get no political advantage or gain from such bombings. We have nothing to do with them," Iqbal said.

Iqbal has said the MILF is ready to resume talks with the government, but only on condition of an international guarantee that the government will fulfill its promises.

He also said the MILF had laid down a condition that the international monitoring team investigate ceasefire violations since July 1 last year.

The MILF also demanded that Malaysia remain the head facilitator of the talks, he said.

An other MILF official has also denied the allegation of a ranking police official that the group is planning to stage a massive military operation against government and military targets in Mindanao.

Khaled Musa, deputy chairman of the MILF committee on information, said the protracted and people-based revolutionary war of the MILF does not have "zero hour" in launching preemptive strikes against their enemies.

"Every day is zero hour for the revolutionary forces to defeat their enemy. Including with political, psychological, and other weapons available," Musa said.

In its proper context, zero hour is the scheduled time for the start of some event, especially a military operation.
