Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu met Bulgarian Deputy Energy & Economy Minister Valantin Ivanov in Ankara on Thursday.
Eroglu said that Turkey and Bulgaria are planning to set up a dam on Tunca River by build-operate-transfer model, and prevent floods in Thrace as well as produce 50 million kilowatt/hour of electricity annually.
Eroglu told reporters that they will discuss the "friendship dam" as well as early warning systems about environment with the guest minister.
He added that Turkey and Bulgaria will also benefit from the "friendship dam" for irrigation and recreation.
On the other hand, Ivanov said that Bulgaria has been working on the dam project for five years, adding that the activities have been pursued together with Turkish officials in the last three years.
Ivanov said that the water level of the dam will be 79.5 meters.
