Four Turkish ministers met with Spanish businessmen on Monday within the scope of the 2nd Turkey-Spain Interparliamentary Summit in Madrid.

Turkish State Minister for foreign trade Zafer Caglayan, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Environment & Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu called on Spanish businessmen to invest especially in energy and infrastructure sectors in Turkey.

The ministers stressed that Turkey targeted to be one of the top ten good economies of the world by 2023.

Energy Minister Yildiz told Spanish businessmen that Turkey would invest 122 billion USD in energy sector by 2023, and all of the investments would be made by private sector.

Transportation Minister Yildirim said that 350 billion USD would be invested in 100 projects in transportation sector by 2023, adding that 200 billion USD of this investment would be met by public-private sector. Yildirim also said that railway line, which was currently 11,000 kilometers, would be increased to 24,000 kilometers by 2023, and 5,000 kilometers of this line would be speed train line. Yildirim added that they would also construct 12 highways and ten airports.

Spanish businessmen were interested especially in highway privatization and renewable energy investments in Turkey.
