5 Authorities in Montana evacuated hundreds of residents and campers near Seeley Lake in the face of a growing wildfire.
The Missoulian Sunday said that with fire officials predicting the blaze would grow in size, an evacuation was ordered and restrictions were placed on travel.
"We have no size reported on this for a reason: It gets bigger by the minute," Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation officer Jamie Kirby said during Saturday's initial evacuation.
"Around 2 p.m., we had it estimated between 4,000 to 5,000-plus acres," the fire information officer added, "but after that, it just became an animal and took a life of its own."
Kirby said changing wind patterns could trigger more evacuations throughout the area.
