More Turkish-Greek ferry-boat trips expected

Mayor of the Greek island of Leros, Timotheos Kottakis, said Thursday that they wish to start ferry-boat trips between Turkish town of Bodrum's Yalikavak resort.

Kottakis and an accompanying delegation paid a visit of courtesy to the Mayor of Yalikavak, Mustafa Saruhan, on Thursday.

Speaking at Saruhan's office, Kottakis indicated that they wished to increase commercial relations between Leros and Yalikavak.

"An open market takes place every Thursday in Yalikavak. We plan to bring Greek customers to this market. Accordingly, we hope to begin ferry-boat trips between Leros and Yalikavak," Kottakis stressed.

Mayor Saruhan said that they did want to develop commercial relations with Leros by sea transportation.

"It is our duty to develop commercial ties and promote the friendship between Turks and Greeks. Our young men and women should be able to travel to Leros and socialize with their Greek friends. We want to make Yalikavak a sister city of the island of Leros," Saruhan said.

Meanwhile, Kottakis extended an invitation to Saruhan to visit the island of Leros.
