Morocco continues arrests on Islamist movement
The Moroccan government is continuing a crackdown on the country's largest Islamist movement, arresting 26 activists in Casablanca, the movement al-Adl w'al-Ihsane (Justice and Spirituality) said Monday.

The activists, who included pregnant women and others accompanied by children, were attending a meeting at a member's home on Sunday.

The detainees included Fatima Qassed, a member of the general secretariat of al-Adl w'al-Ihsane.

Fathallah Arsallane, a spokesman for the movement, described the arrests as part of a crackdown that has gone on for weeks all over the north African kingdom.

Al-Adl w'al-Ihsane does not contest elections. Many observers nevertheless regard it as Morocco's strongest political force.
