The signal was received in a phone call to the office of Bulgaria's ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) in the town.

"The bomb is to be detonated in a while to kill many Turks and gypsies," the man said.

The police cordoned off the area immediately after they have been signaled by the officials.

About an hour later, officers reported that there was not found an explosive device and the mosque will be opened as soon as a report on the case is made.

MRF said threats were issued Tuesday against Muslim religious centers in other cities and towns as well.
