A mosque in France has been vandalised with racist graffiti in the sixth such incident this year, country's main Muslim group said.

The head of the French Council of the Muslim Faith says racist words were painted over the weekend on the walls of the mosque in Sorgues.

It is the sixth time this year that a French mosque has been tarnished by racist graffiti.

In previous incident, the Council said such vandalism has multiplied in France 'in a very worrisome way.'

The council repeated a demand for the government to create a parliamentary panel to study rising Islamophobia.
