North Korea on Wednesday said its security services had arrested a number of foreign spies and North Koreans accused of working for foreign intelligence agencies, China's official Xinhua news agency reported from Pyongyang.
,
A spokesman for the North Korean national security service told reporters in Pyongyang that it had arrested "several foreign spies and native citizens working for a foreign intelligence service," the agency said.

The accused spies had used digital cameras and video cameras to "collect information on the DPRK's vital military installations," the spokesman said, referring to North Korea by the acronym of its official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

He gave no details of the number of spies arrested or their nationality, Xinhua said.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency also quoted North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) as saying several NorthKorean citizens were arrested on charges of "colluding with foreign intelligence agencies."

"The foreign intelligence agency employed some unsound North Korean citizens by giving money, providing sex or blackmailing in order to carry out clandestine operations against key military objects and strategic locations," Yonhap quoted KCNA as saying.
