Number of Turkish MPs provinces changed

The board said that 24 provinces would be represented by fewer parliamentarians, whereas 11 provinces would have more MPs. There are no changes in the number of deputies representing 56 provinces.

Turkey's electoral board has changed the number of MPs provinces are allowed to send to parliament, executives of the board said on Saturday.

Turkey's Higher Election Board re-determined the number of MPs provinces will send to parliament according to the population figures that had been re-announced according to a new register system based on addresses.

Accordingly, the number of MPs representing Istanbul will rise from 70 to 85. Capital Ankara will send 31 MPs to parliament, instead of 29. The Aegean province of Izmir will be represented by 26 deputies, not 24.

The board said that 24 provinces would be represented by fewer parliamentarians, whereas 11 provinces would have more MPs. There are no changes in the number of deputies representing 56 provinces.
