The number of Turks sent to foreign countries by Turkish Employment Agency (Iskur), dropped by 47.5 percent in 2009.

According to data of Iskur, Turkey sent 30,743 workers abroad in 2009.

The number of Turks, who went abroad to work, exceeded 2.2 million since 1961.

The number of Turks working in foreign countries, was 70,024 in 2007, 58,602 in 2008, and it dropped by 47.5 percent to 30,743 in 2009.

Turkey sent workers mostly to Libya (6,539), Russia (5,923), Turkmenistan (3,170), Saudi Arabia (2,391), Iraq (1,892), Qatar (1,315) and Albania (1,191) in 2009.
