President Barack Obama will hold an event on Monday at which he will sign an executive order related to stem cells, an administration official said on Friday.

The official could not confirm the details of the executive order.

Senior advisers have said Obama would soon issue an executive order lifting the eight-year limitation on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research imposed by his predecessor, President George W. Bush.
