OIC head says whole world has seen who has been attacked in Gaza

Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, said Tuesday that the global public opinion must display its latest stance on the Palestinian issue.

Speaking to journalists prior to attending the Eighth OIC Information Ministers meeting in Morocco's city of Rabat, Ihsanoglu said that the incidents in Gaza assumed a new dimension following the cease-fire.

The OIC has worked for a political solution in Gaza through diplomacy, Ihsanoglu stressed.

"The countries of the world have seen who has been victimized and who has
committed crimes in Gaza. The whole world has seen who has been attacked in Gaza. The media in Islamic countries have an important role in defending the right cause of the Palestinian people. The Rabat meeting will focus on the Palestinians," Ihsanoglu said.

Touching on recent comments made by the U.S. President Barack Obama that he will pay a visit to an Islamic country within the first 100 days of his presidency, Ihsanoglu said that Obama's decision to visit an Islamic country shows "the importance Obama attaches to the Islamic world."
