Ministers of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference are scheduled to hold special talks on Saturday on Israel's deadly onslaught on the Gaza Strip, OIC statement said on Tuesday.
In an emergency meeting at the OIC headquarters, Ministers will "discuss the grave situation in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli aggression and the atrocities committed by Israeli forces against the Palestinian people, and to secure the complete and permanent lifting of the embargo imposed on Gaza."
A meeting at the OIC ambassadorial level will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at the OIC headquarters in the lead up to the ministerial meeting.
The OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, conducted phone consultations with Turkish President, Abdullah Gul, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Khaled Meshaal, the Head of Hamas Political Bureau, in addition to the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Amr Moussa, according to the statement.
The discussions examined the ways and means of mobilizing international support to put an end to the Israeli aggression.
