'We are still in the midst of a fighting process and this is not a one-off,' a senior Israeli official quoted Olmert as telling parliament's foreign affairs and defence committee.

'What has taken place in recent days is not an isolated incident,' he said. 'Everything is possible... air strikes, ground strikes and special operations are all being discussed.'
