One person was killed and three others were injured in an explosion at an industrial zone in Zuk al-Musabah, 20 km north of Beirut, Lebanese security sources said here Thursday.
The sources said in news remarks that a Lebanese gas depot owner was killed while two Syrian workers and a civil defence member were injured in the blast.
The explosion could have been caused by a bomb planted in a car that had been parked near the butane gas depot, which caused subsequent blasts and led to the burning of several cars, the sources said.
The incident took place at 9:15 p.m. local time and is considered the fifth such explosion since recent clashes broke out on May 20 at the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian refugee camp between the Lebanese army and the Fatah al-Islam around the northern city of Tripoli.
The first explosion occurred east Beirut on May 20, the first day when the clashes broke out, leaving a woman dead. The second blast shocked Fardan suburb in Beirut.
The third explosion hit a business street at a high area in Lebanon Mountain, leading to the injury of 16 people. The fourth blast shocked Sad al-Bushria on Monday, leaving ten people wounded.
