One policeman was killed and at least seven wounded in two separate attacks against Russian security forces in the republic of Ingushetia, Interfax reported Thursday.
The report said that in a night-time incident, "unknown attackers" fired mortars at an Interior Ministry convoy near the capital Nasran, killing the driver of one armoured vehicle and wounding five members of the special OMON police unit.
That attack followed one on Wednesday, when two policemen were shot and wounded when they came under fire, Interfax said.
The attacks come amid a worsening security situation in the republic, which borders with the republic of Chechenya.
The Russian Interior Ministry had despateched 2,500 soldiers to Ingushetia in early August with a mission of carrying out anti- insurgency operations.
