PACE to hold special session about Turkey
Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) will hold a special debate about Turkey on June 26th.

The debate will be on functioning of democratic institutions in Turkey.

The proposal to hold an urgent debate on this topic, made at the initiative of the heads of the Assembly's five political groups, was approved by the PACE Bureau during its recent meeting in Stockholm on May 29th.

The final decision on the agenda will be set by vote by the Assembly itself on Monday.

The Assembly is expected to approve preparation of a recommendatory bill regarding closure case opened by Constitutional Court in Turkey.

A statement, which was signed by the leaders of four political group chairmen during the spring meetings of PACE, wished the decision of the Constitutional Court to be in line with the principles of Council of Europe and Venice Commission.
