Pakistan on Wednesday asked Indian government to release its 62 prisoners as was earlier announced by India.
India freed 72 Pakistani prisoners, including 48 fishermen, on Tuesday and Pakistan said New Delhi did not free 62 prisoners despite its promise.
Indian officials had reportedly said that the Pakistani prisoners were not freed because Islamabad had not verified their nationalities.
Speaking at a news briefing Wednesday in Islamabad, Pakistani Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Iqbal Cheema rejected the Indian claim.
Pakistan and India had announced to free more than 200 prisoners ahead of the Independence Day celebrations from the both countries.
Pakistan freed 134 Indian prisoners, including 100 fishermen, on August 13.
Cheema Wednesday welcomed the release of 72 Pakistani prisoners by India on August 14 and hoped that other 62 will be freed soon as Pakistan has already verified their nationalities.
