Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer thinks that the constitutional amendment on election of president by people should be made in a longer period of time, not within a limited period of time, Prof. Dr. Nurettin Abacioglu, the chairman of the Executive Board of Gazi University's Lecturers Association, said on Wednesday.
"Mr. President is a jurist on Constitution.
Therefore, he said that he does not think that the current parliamentary system can be solved by a referendum.
He stated that this issue should be dealt in a longer period of time, not within a limited period of time," Abacioglu told reporters after a meeting with President Sezer at the Presidential Palace in Ankara's Cankaya neighborhood.
