According to the news draft legislation, Turkish president will have the power to approve or reject all 301 cases.
The assembly will consider revising article 301 of the penal code, which has been criticized by the EU, government spokesman Cemil Cicek told reporters at a news conference in Ankara today after a meeting of the Cabinet.
The EU has called on Turkey to change article 301.
The draft legislation, which may be presented to parliament today, would give Turkey's president the power to approve or reject all cases brought under article 301 by prosecutors, Cicek said.
Prosecutors currently file cases directly with the courts.
European Commission President Jose Barroso and EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn will visit Ankara on April 10 to assess Turkey's progress toward accession.
