Report: Turkish Plane Hijacked

A Turkish airliner on its way from Northern Cyprus to Istanbul was hijacked Saturday morning and landed in Antalya, a Turkish province on the Mediterranean coast, the private television station NTV reported.

Report: Turkish Plane Hijacked
An official from Atlasjet Airlines told NTV there were 136 passengers and 6 crew aboard when it left the Ercan Airport in the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state in Northern Cyprus.

Cyprus has been divided between a Greek Cypriot south and a Turkish north since 1974, when Turkey invaded after an abortive Athens-backed coup by supporters of union with Greece.
