Russia's Defence Ministry demanded that Georgia hand back a soldier they said had been captured in breakaway South Ossetia region, a news agency said.

Russia's Defence Ministry on Tuesday demanded that Georgia hand back a soldier they said had been captured by Georgian forces in the breakaway South Ossetia region, Interfax news agency reported.

"A preliminary investigation has revealed that Alexander Glukhov was captured by Georgian forces in the Akhalgori region of South Ossetia and taken to Tbilisi," Interfax quoted Defence Ministry spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky as saying.
