Russia says to keep peacekeepers in Georgia regions
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday that Russian peacekeepers would remain in Georgia's two breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia to ensure stability in the Caucasus region.

"Our peacekeepers are continuing to perform their duties and will continue to perform their duties because they are a key factor for upholding security in the Caucasus," Medvedev said at a news conference with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

"That has been the case and that will continue to be the case," Medvedev said.
